Bison
2014Portraits
The final piece
WIP breakdown
This graphite drawing was born out of a desire to really capture the wonderful furry detail of a bison I saw in a photo reference. I really love rendering textures with minute details like fur, which is one reason I went through a phase of painting and drawing lots of animal portraits.
This one took some time to finish, but both process and end result were very satfisying, and the piece is still framed up and hanging in our dining room to this day.
Graphite on A2 drawing paper.
